The Center for Learning Assistance of Long Beach Community College District is seeking a qualified individual for a current opportunity as an Instructional Lab Support Assistant. This incumbent will support efficient operations of assigned department computer labs and help maintain a proper academic environment in computer labs. We are looking for someone who has obtained graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent. Additionally, this candidate must have two years of experience providing computer support to end users in a computer center/lab, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, responsible for the efficient operations of assigned department computer labs; troubleshoots and upgrades a variety of computer lab hardware, software and peripherals; creates and maintains proper academic environment in computer labs.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Instructional Lab Support Assistants are responsible for managing the daily operations of an assigned computer lab. Incumbents are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, order and security of computer lab facility and equipment.
Instructional Lab Support Assistant is distinguished from Instructional Lab Support Technician in that an incumbent in the latter class is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and use of computer laboratories.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and two years of experience providing computer support to end users in a computer center/lab; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

Incomplete or late applications will be disqualified from further consideration. Qualified candidates will be notified in writing if they are moving forward in the selection process.

- If the position requires a college degree, transcripts or copy of a diploma, the required document must be attached at the time of application. Unofficial transcripts are accepted during this phase. For experience substitution in lieu of education, please make sure to attach a statement clearly outlining how your additional experience covers the education requirement, on a year-for-year basis, and qualifies you to be considered for this position.
- If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (~3 months) to test again for the same classification.

An Online Written Test or Oral Panel Interview may be used to assess applicant qualifications. Test parts are determined by the size and competitiveness of the candidate pool.
The qualified candidates will be placed on an unranked list. Seniority points for internal existing LBCC employees and points for Veteran's credit will not be added. The unranked list will be submitted to the hiring authority for consideration.
