The role

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Economic and Destination Development team in the newly created role of Tourism Industry Development Officer. This role will be responsible for the strategic development and enhancement of the tourism industry and visitor economy across the MidCoast and will attract, retain and develop new tourism products and experiences, raising the profile of the region. This role will lead the delivery of actions outlined in the MidCoast Destination Management Plan.

Day to day activities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead the delivery of actions outlined in the Destination Management Plan and support delivery of actions in the Visitor Services Strategy
  • Support local tourism operators to build and grow their business
  • Monitor the performance of the tourism industry by tracking key trends and undertaking research
  • Develop and maintain governmental partnerships to generate visitor economy funding and investment opportunities
  • Research, preparation and acquittal of funding / grants.

So... what will you bring?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Tourism or relevant experience
  • Competency in data entry, Microsoft office software and other technologies
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to prioritise
  • Class C drivers licence

Salary: Commencing salary package range circa $70,000 to $84,000 dependent on past skills and experience plus superannuation.

Start Date: Our preferred candidate would ideally commence in January 2024.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.

Closing date: Wednesday 6 December 2023 at 11.30 pm.
