Where you will be working

Kurri Kurri is a small town located in the Hunter Valley. It boasts many attractions and activities and is a short drive to the renowned wine region and the cities of Maitland and Newcastle.

Kurri Kurri Hospital is an acute and transitional care facility providing general medicine; ear, nose and throat and ophthalmic surgery, a 24-hour emergency department and a 24 bed rehabilitation unit.

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the position is to provide effective clinical management and high quality clinical care, under supervision, to patients seen in or admitted to the Kurri Kurri and Maitland hospitals whilst developing clinical expertise in the principles and practice of rehabilitative medicine. Trainees will gain exposure to a wide variety of rehabilitation medicine including geriatrics, stroke, neurological conditions, spasticity management, orthopaedics and reconditioning.
  • Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team including leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to convey information to both a clinical and non clinical audience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education with evidence of desire to pursue specialist status in rehabilitation medicine.
